Initial situation

Initial situation

Corporate architecture meets building technology. The problem of a lack of parking spaces for the world's leading manufacturer of braking systems, 'KNORR-Bremse', became a challenge for WÖHR + BAUER in 2011. After an intensive planning phase, during which various requirements of the client's corporate architecture were also taken into account, work began on the construction site in April 2013.

The concept

The concept

The new car park for KNORR-Bremse offers seamless parking convenience with column-free parking and traffic areas. Two entrances and exits ensure that the car park can be filled and emptied quickly, even at peak times. Pedestrian access is conveniently provided by two lifts located in the stairwells.

The result

The façade of this functional yet modern car park is a real architectural gem with its high quality combination of glass and perforated corrugated metal. This project was realised using the proven steel composite construction method. WÖHR + BAUER used filigree ceilings with in-situ concrete as the ceiling system, rounded off by a coating that both shapes and protects.

The multi-storey car park scores ecologically with a green roof, which creates a substitute habitat for flora and fauna and thus contributes to improving the urban climate. An architecturally and functionally successful building creates the best conditions for a successful start to the working day.
