Initial situation

Initial situation

The Wissenscampus is located in Stuttgart-Weilimdorf, in the north-west of the Baden-Württemberg state capital, and is the second largest business location within the city limits. A number of well-known companies from the innovation and technology sectors have already settled here: around 20,000 people are employed in around 260 companies in the Weissacher Strasse industrial estate. For a long time, the industrial estate has been under-utilised in terms of space efficiency, and with the Knowledge Campus, it is about to undergo an exemplary reorientation.

W15 is the third building block in the Wissenscampus, a location for knowledge and innovation-driven companies in the Stuttgart region. With a floor area of 6,148 square metres, the planned new four-storey timber-hybrid building W15 complements the new green building W9 and the revitalised existing building W11 on the Wissenscampus.

The location has excellent transport links and is easily accessible by car and public transport. An underground station is planned in addition to the existing S-Bahn station.

The concept

The concept

Designed as a timber-hybrid office complex, W15 creates an identity-forming, attractive space for employees and guests of the Knowledge Campus.

The use of wood as a natural building material and the green design of the outdoor areas create a harmonious architectural space for new working environments that promote the well-being of employees.

In terms of sustainability, the W15 scores highly with its resource-saving modular construction method, which significantly reduces complexity, construction costs and, above all, the carbon footprint. In addition to the timber-hybrid construction method, the building also incorporates photovoltaics and a heat pump.

By densifying the former industrial site, W15 completes the Knowledge Campus into an exemplary office ensemble of the future.
