Initial situation

Initial situation

The surface of Donnersbergerstrasse has been dominated by parked cars for decades due to the wide street space, preventing an attractive design and greening of the public space. As there is not enough space between the Wilhelminian-style buildings for a conventional underground car park, there is a lack of parking solutions.

The concept

The concept

Together with its partner WÖHR Autoparksysteme, WÖHR + BAUER has developed the concept of space-saving parking in a fully automated underground car park.

The result

WÖHR + BAUER is building a fully automated underground car park for residents, the only one of its size in Germany to date. Four lifts sort the cars into a fully automatic underground transfer system. This saves a lot of space and time when looking for a parking space. The "Land of Ideas" initiative honoured the car park as a "Selected Landmark".

The project should serve as a model for conversions elsewhere. You only have to look at the before and after pictures of Donnersbergerstrasse to be convinced that this is a good strategy.
