Retail redevelopment C&A Rosenheim
Today’s department stores must present themselves in a different way from 30 years ago. Without structural redevelopment measures, many retail properties from the eighties are therefore no longer up-to-date. With the comprehensive redevelopment for the tenant C&A in Rosenheim, WÖHR + BAUER takes responsibility as building owner.
The greatest challenge for any retail property redevelopment lies in implementing the changes to the point and within a very short timeframe during normal retail business activities, with as little bother to the customers as possible.
The three-storey business property with a surface area of about 5,000 square metres was constructed in 1980 as reinforced concrete construction with a plastered natural stone facade. In the context of the modernisations a broad window front was installed on the first floor that now serves as eyecatcher with its large-size advertising displays.
In order to generate more light, a massive canopy roof was removed from the 40-metre front – a particularly effective measure that lends a much brighter and friendlier reception area to the department store. By installing a modern cooling system the building’s energy efficiency was significantly improved as well. Since also the front now shines in white colour, the age of the buidling no longer shows.
The fashion house was able to continue sales during the entire construction period, virtually without any limitations.
